DevOps Engineer for Wikia

At Wikia we're tackling interesting problems at a scale you won't find at many other places. We're a Quantcast Top 20 site with over 120 million monthly uniques. 100% of the content on our 400,000+ communities is user generated. That combination of scale and UGC creates some pretty compelling challenges but those challenges will be balanced by a culture that emphasizes a sane approach to work and having a life outside of the office. We’ve also got one of the tightest relationships between ops and dev of any company in the valley.

Our DevOps role will give you lots of opportunities to broaden your experience as you work on myriad challenges and touch just about every piece of our stack (LAMP with Java, Scala, Clojure and Go components using python as our primary infrastructure language, Chef for configuration management and a bit of ruby and PERL thrown in). A main focus will be automation as you maintain and monitor existing tools to automate deployment of code across a variety of environments and work on new projects to instrument and scale our service and security initiatives like penetration testing and security validation. Your work will be split about evenly between clearly defined projects and the stuff that just tends to pop up. You’ll partner closely with our platform team as they break down the monolith that has been our code base up til now.

Please apply here.

Campanja is Hiring

Campanja is an Internet advertising optimization company born in the cloud and today we are one of the nordics bigger AWS consumers.

We only ever owned 5 physical servers and we sent them to be destructed many years ago.

We deliver the best performance in the PPC market by building the best models and constantly bidding each keyword to its optimal price point.

Our current cloud is deployed in a predictable and reproducable way, we use Puppet for config management, we spin up instances via the Amazon EC2 API, we use ZooKeeper for strong co-ordination. We use NoSQL and SQL, our bag is full of tricks; Erlang services, predictive models in Python, Hadoop jobs in Clojure, but we are not content - we don’t settle for average.

Indeed, we do believe that the time has come for us to the embrace the next generation of cloud infrastructure. We believe in immutable infrastructure, container technology and micro services, we hope to use PaaS when we can get away with it but consume at the IaaS layer when we have to.

This is a call to arms!

A 20-odd developer crew based in Stockholm is looking for willing, daring and visionary folks with a DevOps background who want to join our journey to a next gen platform and beyond.

Don't be limited by the narrow capabilities of traditional tools. All of your operational data -- logs, metrics, and more -- in one place, where you can explore, filter, and analyze at interactive speeds. Test aiCache acceleration for free. No sign-up required.

We have set up aiCache on the Amazon Ec2 cloud to allow you to accelerate your website, test it, and optionally deploy in about 10 minutes. No sign-up required and its free.

You give us your website address and we spin up an AWS Micro instance running aiCache configured for your site. We then give you a simple configuration tool, if you want to further tune the Dynamic Caching.

You can then test your regular site and the accelerated site side by side in real time, from a third party testing service, complete with waterfall chart to tell you what is slow. With a few clicks you can tune the Dynamic Caching and re-run the test till you get the optimal config, unique to your site.

Want to deploy it? Great put in the AWS instance ID and Key and we will push it to your choice of live server.

Got everything perfect? Update your DNS or pull a copy to your datacenter.

Want help? We can have one of our engineers hop on and joint edit the config file with you, to work through tricky SSL and Session authentication. A do it yourself kinda engineer? Great context sensitive help is available of every line of the config file.

Want to save it for later, no problem. Want to download it for use on your own box, clicky-clicky free.
